Need one questionnaire family drafted?
The entry pilot is USD 850 for one family, paid in full at checkout. You get cited drafts from your own approved sources, marked “needs input” where they do not answer, for your reviewer to approve.

It takes an incoming questionnaire (a SIG, a CAIQ, a vendor's custom spreadsheet or a portal form) and drafts answers from material you have already approved: past answers, policies, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 reports, and trust documents. The good tools show where each answer came from, so a reviewer can check it quickly. The weak ones generate fluent text you then have to fact-check line by line.
What are the main types of tools?
| Type | Examples | Best fit | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| RFP platforms | Loopio, Responsive | Teams already running RFPs and DDQs in one content library | Security answers mixed into a sales library; check who owns and approves security content |
| Compliance platforms with questionnaire AI | Vanta, Drata | Companies already using that platform for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 | Mostly valuable if your evidence already lives in that platform |
| Trust center plus AI answering | SafeBase, Conveyor | Reducing inbound questionnaires by letting buyers self-serve documents | A trust center deflects some reviews; you still need a process for custom questionnaires |
| Standalone AI questionnaire tools | HyperComply | Teams that want fast drafting without adopting a larger platform | How sources are restricted and how answers are reviewed |
| Managed service | SecurityPal | Teams that want analysts to complete questionnaires for them | Turnaround terms and how your team signs off |
| Source-restricted drafting with approval gates | Shuttlewright | Security, GRC and consultancy teams that must show where every answer came from | Early product, taking design partners now |
Descriptions are based on each vendor's own product pages, checked September 24, 2026 (links under Sources). Products change often, so confirm current features with the vendor.
How do I choose the right one?
1. Where do your approved answers live today?
If they already sit in Vanta, Drata or an RFP library, start there. Moving content is the biggest hidden cost.
2. Can the tool be limited to approved sources?
Ask whether drafts can come only from documents your security owner has approved, or whether the model can fill gaps with general knowledge. For security answers, a confident guess is worse than a flagged gap.
3. Does every answer show its source?
Reviewers should see the document and section behind each claim. That lets a reviewer check a claim in seconds instead of re-researching it.
4. Who approves before it goes out?
Check for named approvers, and whether anything can be sent to a customer without one.
5. Is there an audit trail?
You want a record of which sources, drafts and approvals produced each submitted answer, exportable when a customer or auditor asks.
Where does Shuttlewright fit?
Shuttlewright is built around the last three questions. It drafts only from the library your source owner approves, puts a citation on every answer, flags gaps for a person, stops at an approval gate before anything leaves, and records each run in a hash-chained audit log. It is an early product: we are running paid five-day pilots with a small number of design partners, on one source library and one questionnaire family.

What is the best security questionnaire automation tool?
It depends on where your approved answers live. Teams on Vanta or Drata often start with their built-in questionnaire features; teams with an RFP library often use Loopio or Responsive; teams that need strict source control and approval gates should look at tools built for that, such as Shuttlewright Security Desk.
Can AI answer security questionnaires accurately?
AI can draft accurate answers when it is limited to your approved documents and shows its sources. It should not be trusted to fill gaps on its own. A person should review and approve every answer before it reaches a customer.
What is the difference between a trust center and questionnaire automation?
A trust center publishes your security documents so buyers can self-serve, which reduces inbound questionnaires. Questionnaire automation drafts answers to the questionnaires that still arrive. Many teams use both.
How long does a security questionnaire take without automation?
It varies with length and how organized your evidence is. The CAIQ v4 alone has 261 questions, and many buyers send custom spreadsheets on top of standard formats.
